Terms, Refunds & Privacy

1. The $1 opt-in

Only Dollar Bills is operated by Onlydollarbills LLC, an Iowa limited liability company based in Sioux City, Iowa ("we," "us"). "The $1 Social Experiment" invites people to make a single, voluntary payment of $1.00 USD to see how far a worldwide wave of single dollars can go.

What the $1 is

• A one-time payment processed securely by Stripe. You are charged once and never again: there is no subscription and nothing to cancel.
• Your way of being counted in the experiment. If you give us an @handle at checkout, we may thank you publicly with a shoutout. We may decline to show handles that are offensive or impersonate someone.

What the $1 is not

• Not a charitable donation. Onlydollarbills LLC is not a 501(c)(3) charity, so your payment is not tax-deductible.
• Not a purchase of goods or services, and not an investment. It gives you no ownership, profit share or financial return.
• Not an entry into any giveaway or drawing (see Giveaways).

You must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, to make a payment.

An experiment, with no guarantees

The $1 Social Experiment is exactly that: an experiment. We do not guarantee any outcome, result, goal, number of supporters, giveaway, charitable gift, shoutout or other benefit. We may run giveaways or make gifts to charity, but only if and when we choose to, and we may also change, pause or end the project at any time. Supporter counts and totals are shown on a best-effort basis and may be adjusted for refunds, chargebacks, errors or fraud; they are not audited.

2. How funds are used

After payment processing fees, your $1 belongs to Onlydollarbills LLC as company revenue. We may use it for the costs of running the project, free promotional giveaways, gifts to charity, and other business purposes, in our sole discretion. We do not promise that any amount or percentage will go to any giveaway, charity or other purpose, and no payment is earmarked or held in trust. If we do make a charitable gift or run a giveaway, we plan to post it publicly. We plan to publish a public tally of payments at onlydollarbills.com. Onlydollarbills LLC is a for-profit company, not a charity. It does not solicit donations on behalf of any nonprofit and does not run charitable sales promotions. Any gift the LLC chooses to make to a 501(c)(3) organization would come from its general company funds after operating expenses and taxes, and no charity has endorsed or sponsored this project unless we say so in writing with that charity's authorization.

3. Refunds

• Within 30 days: email hello@onlydollarbills.com with the email address you used at checkout and the date of your payment, and we will refund the full $1.00.
• Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe and usually appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
• After 30 days, refunds are at our discretion. Just ask, and we will do our best.
• Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. We will gladly sort it out directly.

4. Giveaways

• No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win. Paying $1 does not enter you into any drawing and does not increase your chances of winning.
• Giveaways are occasional. We do not promise a schedule, and whether a giveaway is held never depends on how many people pay.
• Each giveaway is governed by its own official rules, which we publish before the giveaway starts. Those rules cover eligibility, how to enter, prizes, odds and how winners are chosen and contacted.
• Unless the official rules say otherwise, giveaways are open to legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C. who are 18 or older. Void where prohibited.
• Giveaways are not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, TikTok, Instagram or YouTube.
• We will never ask a winner for a payment, a "processing fee", card details or passwords to claim a prize. Winners are contacted only by our official @only_dollarbills accounts.

5. Privacy

What we collect

• When you pay: Stripe processes your payment. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares with us your email address, payment amount and date, your country, and the optional @handle you enter.
• When you enter a giveaway: your public social media handle and the engagement used to enter (for example, a like or comment on our post).
• When you email us: your email address and whatever you choose to include.

How we use it

• To process payments, send receipts and handle refunds.
• To show shoutouts, using only the @handle you gave us.
• To run drawings and contact winners.
• To answer your messages, prevent fraud, and keep the records the law requires (for example, for taxes).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the project: Stripe (payments), Google Workspace (email) and Cloudflare (website hosting and security). We also share it if the law requires.

This website

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, processes basic technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, and some page code loads from third-party content networks (Tailwind CSS and jsDelivr), which receive your IP address when the page loads.

Your choices

Email hello@onlydollarbills.com to ask what information we have about you, to correct it, to remove your shoutout, or to delete your information. We keep payment records only as long as tax and accounting laws require. This site is not directed to children under 13.

6. General terms

• The website and experiment are provided "as is." To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us.
• We may update these terms. The "Effective" date at the top shows when they last changed. Changes don't affect payments made before the update.
• These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa.
